Established in 1932 The Regent Garage has existed in automotive industry in various forms over the past 8 decades. Since 1985 Neil Twyman (trading as his namesake) has established the company Worldwide as one of the leading restorers of Pre-War Alfa Romeo & Post War Ferrari’s. Operating today as Regent Garage Restoration the company continues to use the experience gained over the last 35 years to restore, preserve & recreate the World’s greatest cars.
Between 1932 & 1987 The Regent Garage operated in Potters Bar as a ‘one-stop-shop for motoring essentials’. George Twyman and sons (Gerry & Peter) ran the business as a Sales, Service & Spares Outfit with the added convenience of a Petrol Station - The garage was renowned locally.
Between 1983 & 2020 Neil Twyman (Grandson of George & son of Gerry) operated in Potters Bar as Neil Twyman Ltd. For over 30 years the company was entrusted with some of the World’s most important cars for restoration. Early on the focus was placed on Pre War Alfa Romeo & Post War Ferrari restoration. The business also catered for racing and prepared and ran race winning cars in significant historic races Globally.
Now combining the heritage of the past 35 years Regent Garage Restoration brings together all the elements in a new dynamic family business. The company continues to offer the complete restoration service with years of experience/knowledge and some of the best engineers and craftsmen in the business. Unlike many restoration businesses we have the ability to do the fabrication, metalwork, chassis work and machining on site and under our roof here in Potters Bar.

The Regent Garage founded in Potters Bar by George Twyman.
1967
Regent evolves into 'George Twyman LTD' known locally as 'Twyman’s of Potters Bar' with Gerry & Peter Twyman at the helm.
1970
Neil Twyman undertakes his first restoration on a Morgan 3 Wheeler at the age of 11.
1973
Gerald Twyman restores two 4.5 Litre Bentley’s sparking interest in the restoration process for the family.
1981-1984
Neil Twyman works for Paul Grist working on and restoring Pre-War Alfa Romeos.
1984/85
Neil Twyman Ltd commenced in business from a lockup garage in Brookmans Park – The first job being an Alfa Romeo P3, followed by Ferrari 330LMB, 300S Maserati, Jaguar D Type & Lotus XV.
1986
Twyman’s of Potters Bar closed upon the retirement of Gerry & Peter Twyman.
1986
Neil Twyman Ltd. moved to the workshops in which the business operates from today.

Joe Twyman born.

Restorations undertaken on countless Pre-War Alfa Romeos & Post-War Ferraris whilst supporting customers to International historic racing success.
1998
The 'preservation restoration' was tried and tested with an overall win at the prestigious Louis Vuitton Concours and class win at Pebble Beach with the highly original ‘Don Lee Special’ Alfa Romeo P3.
1999-2009
Further focus on the Ferrari & Alfa Romeo marques in the business with GTO’s, SWB’s, 2900’s, Monza’s etc all gracing the workshop floors.

Craig Twyman joins the business.
2009-2013
The heyday of our historic racing adventures with overall wins at the Goodwood Revival, Monaco Historique & Le Mans Classic events.
2010
5 Pre-War Alfa Romeos prepared and shown at the Pebble Beach Concours.
2015
Brooklands Trophy Win for Neil Twyman in his Alfa Romeo 8C 'Muletto'.
2011-2019
Extensive restoration on Italian automotive royalty & race preparation and builds on Lotus, Cooper etc with staff numbers hitting their peak in the business.

Revival of the 'Regent' name bought back into the business.
